King Hammurabi carved his list of 282 laws on an
eight foot high stone.
This
is the first evidence of a written list of laws.
This
"Code of Hammurabi" is famous for the expression: "An eye for an eye - and
a tooth for a tooth".
The Code
of Hammurabi is usually associated with the "Twelve Tables" (of Rome) and
the "Justinian Code" as early examples of a legal system
